Ruth Yoshie Linton is a Japanese independent film producer whose films include Naomi Kawase’s Vision (2018), starring Juliette Binoche and Masatoshi Nagase, Ida Panahandeh’s The Nikaidos’ Fall (2018), and Arsalan Amiri’s Zalava (2021), which held its world premiere and won Grand Prize at Venice International Critics' Week, and won the FIPRESCI Award at the Venice International Film Festival. Its North American premiere was at Toronto International Film Festival. Both premieres were in September of 2021. Her newest feature documentary, Dearest Viet (Dành cho Việt) (2024), premiered at Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival. 

 

Ruth has also worked at film festivals for over 15 years, including serving as a moderator, board member and selection committee member of the Nara International Film Festival in Japan.

 

In 2015, she co-starred in the short film Lies, directed by Naomi Kawase, alongside Japanese actor Tetsuya Bessho, which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival.

 

Ruth’s career as a singer has primarily involved social causes. In 2013, her song “Coffee Shop” was included on the charity album “Fukushima Keep the Faith,” with proceeds going to relief funds for the victims of the Tohoku Earthquake. In 2015, she released a Japanese version of the song “Always Within Me,” (Vietnamese title: VÌ MỘT THẾ GIỚI ĐẸP TƯƠI), a song dedicated to the victims of Agent Orange in Vietnam. She performed the song at the Opera House in Ho Chi Minh City with Vietnamese pop singer Nguyễn Phi Hùng.
